Water Bottles, Bottled Water, and Associated Myths

I have news for you, my friends... that bottled water you are drinking? Most likely, its from the Tap. And if it isn't? If it is actually from a 'frosty mountain spring', then you are likely paying double as well. For the most part, any difference in flavor on 90% of those brands is in your head!

I have been hearing blurbs like that for years! And, for the most part, I agree. However, I have to take issue with a couple of points. First off, here in Memphis, we have excellent tap water. The only exceptions are if you are living in an area or apt complex or office complex that doesn't use the municipal water supply. So, its all well and good to say that water from a water fountain here tastes just as good as about 80% of the bottled water you can buy. I actually agree with that, from my own experiences.

But the world is not composed of Memphians. I have visited several other areas of the country in my life, and I can state with firm belief that in most other places (Mississippi, Florida, Texas for example) tap water is nasty in comparison to ours. Therefore, it is inferior to pretty much all bottled water you can buy that is from a natural spring, etc.

Water Bottles

I have never really been a huge fan of water, but I have been making a huge effort to drink more of it recently. I knew that in order for me to do that and enjoy it, I would have to get myself a cool water bottle. I did some research, and recently got my hands on a SIGG water bottle. They are made from one piece of aluminum, and look hella cool:

When drinking water out of that bad boy, the coolness counterbalances the fact that water just... doesn't taste very good. I also bought a Nalgene bottle, which is cool for the ice/water machine we have in the break room. It's not as cool though, so no picture for it. Sorry Nalgene.

In conclusion, its Friday. Happy Friday, people.
